Batman Robin Vine Art What Do You Have a Knife

Batman & Robin (1997) Poster

What about killed the Batman franchise? "The Ice Age!"

I saw this movie upon it'due south release in 1997 I was just vi years old and honestly I loved it and so much I even had a Batman & Robin movie affiche in my room that I got for attending the movies opening day. I got the picture on VHS for my birthday after it was released and I watched information technology pretty much every weekend at least twice but now that the moving-picture show is over xx years erstwhile and I'm an adult with much amend gustatory modality in movies I thought I'd watch the film again on Blu Ray and requite a review on my nostalgic experience and run into if my opinion on the movie has inverse much over the years.

The beginning thing I will say virtually Batman & Robin is that it's the worst Batman movie of them all easily down no amount of nostalgia or proficient memories of the movie will change that it is only awful but having said that information technology's still a fun movie to watch just because of how over the height and cheesy the film is from the over the top interim downwards to the admittedly terrible Batman jokes like the Bat Credit carte and the hilarious Mr Freeze one liners told by Arnold Schwarzenegger himself it is incommunicable non to laugh when watching this picture information technology'south not the serious Batman movie nosotros wanted and information technology doesn't do the Batman grapheme justice at all.

This pic alone was the reason we didn't get a Batman moving picture for eight years because Batman & Robin failed completely and almost killed the franchise luckily in 2005 we got Batman Begins which introduced the true Nighttime Knight and would atomic number 82 to the greatest Batman movie e'er made in 2008 Batman The Night Knight.

I love the cast involved Arnold Schwarzenegger every bit Mr Freeze is hilarious and Uma Thurman as the sexy, seductive Poison Ivy she really makes a deadly character like Poisonous substance Ivy a lot of fun and she really does make the character look sexy as hell.

This movie is absolutely hilarious and is a guilty pleasure for me I don't watch it because it's a practiced movie I scout information technology just because it'southward entertaining and enjoyable it'due south essentially Batman the parody it's not to be taken seriously it's a bunch of famous actors dressing in spandex so tight we actually get crotch and butt close ups and so if you've always wanted to see a Bat suit with actual nipples and a cod peice and so your in luck. This isn't the best Batman movie but try and enjoy information technology for what it is an 60 minutes and a half of entertaining fun.

I really can't believe Joel did this

Batman & Robin, the big summer movie of 1997, I remember seeing this in the theater when I was 12 and even then I wasn't impressed. But when I was more grown upwards, I watched this film once again, I figured since I loved the 3 previous Batman films, why not give this ane another shot? At present, seeing this movie once once again, I can understand the low rating on IMDb, this movie was just a pathetic attempt at merchandising Batman and making an over the top action moving picture that really had nothing to do with Batman. The casting was merely oh, so plain wrong. We have Arnold Schwartzenegger as Dr. Freeze?! Not to mention the accent, the character was just someone you felt similar you could laugh off. Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl, she was alright, but once more, questionable casting since she seemed out of place. Now, George Clooney?! I couldn't believe how Val Kilmer got complained about, but George Clooney I tin run into why. He was just the most awkward Batman e'er and didn't fit the part at all, he was only used for his popularity.

Batman is living information technology upwardly with his bachelor lifestyle, only Robin is a bit upset that he is living under Batman's shadow and wishes to be the star. Alfred is becoming very ill and needs serious help; his niece, Barbara comes to his aid and hopes to help him and stays with Bruce Wayne. Dr. Freeze is our new villain and is looking for a cure for his wife who is frozen until he tin can find a cure for her, he also is intending for the world to pay for what has happened to him and his wife for some reason. Dr. Pamela Isley is a plant scientist/correct activist and while her boss sees her finding out more than she needs to know almost an experiment on his version of Frankenstien, named Blindside, he "kills" her with her plants. Only the plants chemicals have an event on her and actually brand her into Poisen Ivy. She and Freeze team upwardly to take over Gothem and of course to divide Batman and Robin forever, oh aye, then kill them I approximate.

Batman & Robin was really beyond over the top, the costumes were a fleck silly and the story was just likewise family friendly. This is Batman, the Nighttime Knight, it's not meant to exist this bright and and then crazy. I couldn't believe Joel did this, I really wish I could go past this, I know he's going to get a bad rap for this film for the rest of his career. The interim was simply stupid and not true to Batman at all. The problem here was that the story and setting just had aught to do with what Batman truly is and was merely an excuse to spend stupid money. Please, don't watch this film if you love Batman, or yous'll be sorry.

A pain in the ice.

Strangely enough, that's i ice-related pun that Mr.Freeze doesn't utilize in this film. Though it does adequately depict the picture show. What was I thinking, watching Batman & Robin for a third time? Even worse, what was I doing really starting to savour it?

Aye, in that location's something endearingly atrocious well-nigh a film that fails on almost every technical level. Simply it wasn't ever so. The first two films in the franchise, anchored past the potent, and much undervalued pb of Michael Keaton, were enjoyable pop-art excursions by Tim Burton. The starting time, still by far the best, immune Jack Nicholson to ham it up amidst retro stylings and the music of Prince. The second, Batman Returns, was a less successful try to homage German expressionist movie theater, the darkest of the iv films, and struggled slightly under the weight of 3 villains.

The lesson wasn't learnt, and the usage of multiple baddies has been a fixed staple ever since. With the third, Batman Forever, the apartment acting of new bat Val Kilmer was coupled with Joel Schumacher'southward garish direction and Chris O'Donnell'due south irritating Robin. Akiva Goldsman was now the author, and whatever sense of depth had given manner to trite puns and disjointed set pieces.

And and so it was that everything that was symptomatically flawed with the series was expanded upon and magnified for the fourth, and by far the weakest, instalment. George Clooney has accepted a lot of the blame for this motion picture, a humble admission but unfair. While he's conspicuously miscast as both Batman and Bruce Wayne, he doesn't give a bad performance per se. Rather, it's his back up that lets the side downward. Uma Thurman (am I the but ane who doesn't retrieve she's that skilful-looking?) has a groovy fourth dimension overdoing it as Poisonous substance Ivy, simply she's joined by Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. Schwarz, not exactly known for his acting skill, is unrecognisable under his costume, so what's the indicate? He gets to call Batman "Batunbuuurg", refers to Robin as "Buuurd Bouy" and only has 100 lines in full. The fact that 26% of these lines are lame puns on the give-and-take "ice" that even a two-year-onetime would struggle to detect funny is fifty-fifty more deplorable. And when you lot hear Freeze tell Batman "Yew arr non zending mee as well da cooola" the urge to use the video's "end" button is virtually insurmountable.

Bane makes upwardly the trio, a monosyllabic muscleman in a gimp mask. A completely unnecessary addition, he offers zero to the plot and goes largely forgotten. The introduction of wonky-mouthed Alicia Silverstone equally a fatuous Batgirl character is besides grating. And why doesn't her costume come fitted with Batnipples like the residual?

Tiny traces of amusement can exist gleaned from Ivy's dialogue, with her urges that her "garden needs tending" calculation some course of adult tone to the humor. Nonetheless, information technology'south unrelenting innuendo - "I'll assist you take hold of your rocks" - does commencement to wear thin very quickly. I did grinning at Batman'south cashcard: "I never go out the cavern without information technology"; and it's also nice to see some small references from other films. Fifty-fifty if it is just a glimpse of the Riddler's costume from Forever, some guards paraphrasing Cobra or some street bystanders dressed as Clockwork Orange Droogs. In fact, the thought of a Batman film as completely OTT comedy send-up may accept worked, were the residuum of the sense of humor more than sophisticated. "It's the hockey squad from Hell"; "Then this is where you hang out"; "I'll cancel the pizza"; oh, how lame and functional the dialogue is!

The flick wraps upwards with a rather pathetic plot contrivance, and George having to dish out bland platitudes. "Not all heroes wear masks"; "to give life... that's truthful ability". Oh, it actually is abominably bad. Batman & Robin exists equally a classic example of the Hollywood arrangement folding in under its own weight. Notwithstanding, the universal slating this one got neglects one cistron: while the least successful, it still made over $230,000,000 at the box office. I wonder how many people would exist satisfied with "failures" like that?

I've Lost Faith In Humanity

BATMAN & ROBIN will brand yous lose all religion in Hollywood, indeed humanity as a whole. Stunningly atrocious, this was a disaster from the moment George Clooney traded in his scrubs for the black rubber boots. And information technology's not fifty-fifty awful in a cute, SHOWGIRLS kind of way. Y'all won't laugh, but y'all might cry over the fact you've just flushed 125 precious minutes of your life downward the crapper.

While everyone involved brings shame to their families, from the uncomfortable Clooney as the lamely-interpreted hero to Governornator Arnold Schwarzenegger as the inferior-high-dialog-spewing Mr. Freeze, director Joel Schumacher must be punched the hardest. Even those who thought he embarrassed the franchise with the light-hearted BATMAN FOREVER were taken aback. Schumacher treats the audition like a group of eight-year-old boys with Add together, constantly trying to impress us with unexciting action scenes like a hockey-themed opening boxing reminiscent of the under-appreciated genius of MIGHTY MORPHIN Power RANGERS.

The writers only brand things worse with their "witty" hero chatter ("This is why Superman works alone"... har har, where do they come with them??) and drawn-out "man" angles, such equally butler Alfred'due south illness and a childish romantic triangle between Batman, Robin and the sexy Poisonous substance Ivy. This isn't root-on-the-heroes amusement. On the contrary, you lot'll find yourself wishing Toxicant Ivy would tongue kiss both masked men to put us all out of our misery.

I love Batman and superhero flicks. I'yard non a movie snob by any ways, as I'g willing to forgive many a gaffe. But I absolutely loathe BATMAN & ROBIN. I loathe how it disgraces the characters it depicts. I loathe how the "talent" involved is yet immune within 100 feet of a picture show set or author'south room. It must be said once again that BATMAN & ROBIN is the kind of experience that will make you lose all faith in Hollywood -- and humanity.

Definitely the worst of the Batman movies.

The film does have nice costumes, and dainty sets. Unfortunately that is nigh it. 1 major trouble is some of the choices of actors. They were all wasted. George Clooney is quite a charming actor, but he is non my idea of Batman. Batman I don't think is supposed to be charming, he's supposed to be dark and heart-searching, and Clooney lacked that. What would Michael Keaten and Val Kilmer and fifty-fifty Christian Bale say when they see that Batman has turned charming? Chris O' Donnell looked uncomfortable, and in almost every movie where he is a hero, this includes the 1993 version of the Three Musketeers, he is rather lifeless. Uma Thurman does her all-time, but what they gave her to work with was ridiculous, and she just failed to evangelize, while Alicia Silverstone was extremely annoying. The worst case was poor Arnold Schwarznegger. He was completely miscast as Mr Freeze, completely lacking the coldness and evilness that makes the graphic symbol so memorable. Schwarznegger is a talented actor, only his skills are hidden across recognition in this movie, he just looked so uncomfortable and totally out of grapheme. The direction from Joel Schummacher was disappointing besides, information technology lacked the artistic flair and the temperament that is needed to brand a great film. This is farther disadvantaged by a truly pathetic script that nobody in the cast could exercise anything with.(these actors deserved then much better)The special effects were okay, only very confused in terms of execution. In conclusion, not the worst movie, I have ever seen, simply information technology is ane of those films, where everything needed to make it memorable falls flat. 3/10 for try. Bethany Cox

Uncalled for, overrated and idiotic

I know that there has to be some justice in this life, so anybody will pay for their sins and crimes someday. I shudder when I think what will happen to Joel Schumacher for killing the "Batman" franchise.

"Batman", the best of the serial, was a night, psychotic and complex film with over the acme acting and settings. The Batmobile was cute, equally were the sets. The movie was forceful and interesting. "Batman Returns" shared some of the traits of its predecessor while adding more lunacy to the mix. It did suffer from the lack of tiptop of the line talent (Jack Nicholson).

And so Mr. Schumacher ruined everything.

"Batman Forever" is a shame of a moving picture, but Zippo compared to what this piece of garbage is. Since its from the same series, there is no alibi for the manager to run wild and away from the spirit of the originals, in which a sad soul has to fight crime in order to mantain sanity. In Schumacher movies, Batman has to have the coolest cars, to osculation the most beautiful girls and to have a lot of fun while doing this. The commencement two movies best-selling that killing or hurting people was a conscious choice which was painfully taken past Batman; in the last two information technology is every bit if violence was fun and part of Batman´south life.

There are then many incorrect things about this movie it is useless to count them. But there are two things that are an insult to every flick goer: the Batmobile is reduced to a clownmobile, and Batman´southward suit has NIPPLES in it. What a disgrace of a movie. This doesn't even qualify as "so bad it is good". This is merely "so bad it is bad".

I ask you God, what have we done to deserve this?

This is hands down the worst film ever fabricated in the history of the being of the universe. There take been some bad films made but this is a travesty. Information technology is difficult to believe that money was spent to make this. Information technology could accept been used on something else (charity I suppose). I was 12 when I went to encounter this and it broke my heart. Batman was my favorite comic book and character when I was a kid and this film broke my spirit. The excellence of the Tim Burton/Michael Keaton films are long gone. The dark emotional center and evolution of the hero and the villains is sidelined for action sequences, action sequences and some more activity sequences, some of them incorporating the worst CGI and model work ever seen on film.

The casting itself had to the potential to brand a adept film. George Clooney could have made a bang-up Batman (square jawed, popular with the ladies), the but affair going confronting him being that can be too laid back (maybe with a improve script he could practice the darker textile). Uma Thurman is perfect for Poison Ivy. She is a good looking yet quirky actress, but y'all wouldn't know it by the accent on military camp context and innuendo in this film. Arnie is maybe a lilliputian miscast as Mr Freeze, but he does well getting a adventure to use some 'great' puns, but someone who tin come across as more evil would take been better. Then there is Chris O'Donnell and Alicia Silverstone as Robin and Batgirl. Let's only say more than charisma tin can come from a line of refrigerator freezers with goose egg in them. The only decent performance comes from Michael Gough every bit Alfred, only one of two actors to have appeared in all four films. His performance is wonderful in this otherwise mess of a film.

The blame for this disaster can be laid at the hands of Joel Schumacher. His direction misplaced and his intentions misguided. He may have redeemed himself with Phone Berth, only he will always exist the man who destroyed Batman in my optics.

Quite Possibly the Worst Movie Ever

Don't get me wrong, the old Adam West Batman TV show was certainly funny, and given the times, a more authentic representation of what Batman was trying to be wouldn't accept succeeded nigh besides. Merely the evidence still betrayed all the emotion and grimness of Batman'due south themes.

In Batman & Robin, Schumacher seems to exist getting back to those roots. He treats the entire Batman franchise like a joke. Even if information technology was funny, this would be betraying the name of Batman. Merely here, seeing as it's Non funny, it simply succeeds in becoming the worst of the Batman movies, and, arguably, the worst films always created. And I'm taking into account Plan 9 From Outer Space, Gigli, and You Got Served.

George Clooney but plays George Clooney. Which is the road he usually takes, simply this suave, dashing, and charming Batman seems more than like Mystery Men's Helm Amazing than the crimefighter of legend.

There's Chris O'Donnell, the angst-ridden Robin trying to break out of Batman'due south shadow. The only thing he ever really does is act similar a child.

Alicia Silverstone. Wow. I seriously wonder what makes someone say, "Hmm, who should we get to play Batgirl . . . I know! Alicia Silverstone!" No offense to Alicia, but she'due south out in right field on this one. Her tough-girl performance is sprinkled with reminders of her Clueless days. But all that aside, she actually does very niggling.

Now, onto the villains. Uma Thurman, who we know Tin act, is hamming it up to ridiculous proportions. Showtime, when she's playing the nerdy Dr. Pamela, she exaggerates that to a level I idea impossible. And then she inexplicably turns into an extremely sexualized villainess whose plan, by the mode, would kill all the plants she advocated protecting.

Arnold seems similar the worst possible choice for Mr. Freeze. I mean, of all the Batman villains I could see him playing - Bane, for christ's sake - Mr. Freeze is not on that listing. He possesses none of the emotionless, calculated, and cold (no pun intended) sociopathy which makes Mr. Freeze such a skilful grapheme.

And so, all that aside, they're handed ridiculous catch phrases and cliches they're expected to say with any level of sincerity? At one point Mr. Freeze says "chill out." Of all the ways it sounds, menacing is not among them.

Seriously, I'd have more than respect for Schumacher if I discovered that he hated Batman, and had intentionally ruined information technology with this garbage. Then, this might actually be only his own personal joke. Instead, it borders on a travesty of proficient cinema. I only wish that 0 stars was a selectable option at the imdb, for this film Lonely.

How to make the worst movie EVER! In 10 easy steps.

i. Cast Arnold Schwarzenegger as a scientist and have him spout nothing only 1-liners for the entire motion picture. I cannot stress how bad his operation is. Even by his standards the level of acting is shockingly poor. Also Mr. Freeze was an intelligent guy in the comics and then information technology doesn't do to cast a guy who can't even speak American without a heavy accent. Despite Schwarzenegger's intellect (he is 1 of the governors in U.s. with the highest IQ) he comes off equally an ignorant person because of his accent.

2. Allow George Clooney to play Batman as gay. I am actually a fan of Clooney but his performance in this flick is disgraceful to say the least. He has stated himself that he found it amusing to play Bruce Wayne as gay. I, a great fan of the comics, did not find this agreeable at all.

iii. Move away from the serious tone of the first movies (which made them successful) and do a poor imitation of the lx's camp show with Adam West.

4. Cast Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy. I unremarkably remember Uma Thurman is hot but her overacting in this movie is so distasteful she loses all kind of sexual appeal, which in turn destroys whatever kind of menace the character should accept had. Poor, poor, poor.

5. Allowing Joel Schumacher free reins over the flick after seeing which direction he was taking the franchise with the previous film. This is only the sign of a bad producer.

6. Remove all tension in the fight sequences past dumbing them down to the point where it is beyond stupidity. Batman and Robin playing hockey with a diamond is not my idea of a cool fight scene. Several fight scenes actually had me gasping with shock as to how poor they are.

7. Cast Alicia Silverstone as a bad girl (Batgirl). She cannot pull it off.

8. The nipples people. THE NIPPLES!!! How ridiculous is this?! Batman and Robin's suits have nipples but when Batgirl makes her entrance notice the lack of the same.

9. Write a script that makes no sense whatever.

10. Turn one of the most memorable villains of the comics into a brainless henchman. I am referring of course to Bane who in the comics is one of Batman'due south worst enemies because of his strength and intellect. Bane has actually browbeaten Batman on several occasions and although The Joker is undoubtedly Batman's nemesis Bane isn't far off. I squirm with the way they treated him in this moving picture.

In my honest opinion this could in fact be the worst pic... no scratch that... worst thing man has ever created. And then with that I give my final score.

Unfairly maligned

Unfairly maligned by just virtually everyone, I saw this at the picture palace and am not aback to say I enjoyed it. It'south the only BATMAN film to retain the pure comic book camp of the 1960s TV show, with funny humor throughout - mainly thank you to invitee stars Thurman and Schwarzenegger - and a low-cal, colourful atmosphere.

A Well-Done Bad Movie.

Generally considered one of the worst things e'er brought to the screen, Batman & Robin is very fun. When people say this motion-picture show is terrible, I concur but they never acknowledge the redeeming qualities, which are what brand this movie bad. Doesn't make much sense? Arnold delivers cheesy puns and 1-liners galore, they exercise suck but are hilarious at the same fourth dimension. George Clooney does such a bad job, you lot can't help laughing. Everybody is so over-the-top and cheesy, y'all have to laugh. That may exist why Chris O'Donnell's and Silverstone'due south careers were pretty much ruined afterward this: gets recognized for Aroma of a Woman; breaks out in Batman Forever; then gets screwed in this. Silverstone does some music videos, breaks out in Clueless, then gets screwed past this. All other actors pretty much had their feet firmly planted. The set design and special effects were actually well-washed. But people criticized this portion for beingness too weird-looking and overly-extravagant. Maybe they were, just doing all that the fashion Schumacher did is extremely difficult. Plus information technology saves us from the bad story and bad acting. I did say the acting is funny, but after a while information technology gets to be too much. It starts off fun, but somewhen gets tedious since at that place is no good plot or characters. It just keeps going until you lot take enough. I know that 2 hours isn't very long for a movie, but in this example, it was. Only take 20 minutes away and it would accept been better.

Not every bit good as the first three

This film was not equally good as the first three films. It could've been better, but it was not all that bad. Joel Shumacher returns equally managing director for the 4th sequel of the Batman serial. There are some surprising actors in this film. George Clooney takes on the role of Batman while Arnold Schwarznegger takes the office of Batman'southward nemesis, Dr. Freeze. Freeze wants to ice the city upwards and he gets some help along the fashion in the form of Poison Ivy(Uma Thurman). The acting was non terrible, merely in some ways information technology could've been better. The score was not as strong equally the first couple films. The script was alright, only the plot line was the best about the film. I also similar the costumes that were used in the pic. They were very unique. Dice-difficult fans of Batman will exist disappointed at this film. Simply, I liked it a little. I rate this moving picture a 7/10.

"This is why Superman works alone."

Warning: Spoilers

My summary quote of George Clooney's Batman during the opening sequence pretty much says information technology all. In this, the fourth and terminal movie of the first Batman film cycle, it appears that all stops were pulled in trying to emulate the Adam Due west TV series from the Sixties. The entire picture is pure camp and hard to take seriously if you're a truthful fan of the costumed hero. Not merely that, but the actor portraying the master championship grapheme isn't even listed at the top of the credits. Instead it's Arnold Schwarzenneger in the thankless office of the film's principal antagonist, Mr. Freeze. I certain would like to know what he thinks nigh this picture today.

The idea of 3 heroes squaring off confronting three villains was certainly overkill here, especially when characters like Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone) and Bane (Jeep Swenson) seemed superfluous to the story nigh of the fourth dimension. I recall thinking when the motion picture came out what a waste product of time it was to use the Bane character here since he was so formidable in the comics. Afterward all he broke Batman's back and was the new terror of Gotham in the late Nineties. In this picture he'south done in by a few mere body blows and information technology'due south defunction for the Banester. Very disappointing.

If in that location's anything to write home about information technology would be everyone's favorite bad daughter, Uma Thurman, every bit the mischievous Toxicant Ivy. She calls to listen Julie Newmar'due south take on the Catgirl of the Adam West days, although a bit overdone with the environmental puns. In another time and identify, say the 1940'south, a horror flick utilizing an aloe blood and skin with chlorophyll gimmick would take been pretty bully. I tin can merely see Bela Lugosi sending out his creation with a poison kiss to do away with his enemies.

One matter that was cool (no pun intended there) was seeing Jesse Ventura in a quick cameo as an Arkham Aviary prison guard. And then that would make it the third time that two future governors appeared in a picture together. "Predator' and "The Running Man" were the other ii. Makes you wonder how these guys ever got elected.

The all-time one for kids

I'chiliad a Michael Keaton fan, so in my view, no one else can be Batman only him. I've never really met anyone who's picked George Clooney as their favorite, so if you watch this one, it'll near likely be for the supporting cast. The adorable Chris O'Donnell plays Robin, the equally adorable Alicia Silverstone plays Batgirl, Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a frosty nonetheless comical villain, and Uma Thurman plays a wicked seductress. See what I mean? Yous'll probably forget George Clooney is even in it.

Unfortunately, this installment wasn't fifty-fifty equally successful as its predecessor Batman Forever, which wasn't very good. The consistently proficient feature shared by both films is the child-friendly attitude. These are comic book movies, and should be able to be enjoyed by kids of all ages-aren't immature folks the target audiences for comic books? The afterward volumes are far too dark and frightening. The darkest part of the movie is an uninteresting sideplot about Batman's butler Alfred's health-merely it tin can withal plow into a funny scene if y'all brand fun of George Clooney's smirk and head tilt instead of paying attention to what he's proverb. And so, if you're looking for a adept one to start your youngster on, this is information technology.

Much more cartoony and dizzy than previous Batmans....and oftentimes an insult to your intelligence.

"Batman & Robin" is currently #58 on IMDB's infamous Bottom 100 List....which would indicate it's a truly horrible film. Interestingly, despite in that location being many horrible superhero movies (such as "The Spirit" and "Catwoman"), this and "Superman Four" are the merely ones currently on the listing....so it'due south quite a dubious achievement!

Despite "Batman & Robin" existence a terrible motion picture, information technology is interesting to note that despite the motion-picture show costing an ungodly $125,000,000 to make...it DID manage to earn most double the cost...making information technology Warner Brothers' biggest moneymaker of the year. It's bad press did, however, help destroy the franchise until it was revived and revamped several years later with Christian Bale and Chrisopher Nolan.

When the moving-picture show started, I could almost see instantly why the movie was a stinker. Information technology was completely cartoonish compared to the previous Batman films of the 80s and 90s. Seeing Batman and Robin in a hockey game with Mr. Freeze and his minions just made me cringe...every bit did the audio furnishings throughout the flick. Several times, the punching and boot sounds were pretty much straight from the campy onetime TV series....and fans must have been infuriated to see the serial turned into a dumbed down cartoonish nightmare. Did the stupidity in this scene get any worse in this opening scene? Yup...when Freeze escapes in a rocket (???) and Batman and Robin chase the motion-picture show leaps into ultra-stupid mode! It concluded hellishly, with Batman and Robin both jumping from the rocket on sky surfboards and they miraculously survived--and during their descent Robin yells out 'Cowabunga'!! What follows rarely got much better...and over again and over again the film resorted to cartoonism instead of making a decent film that wouldn't infuriate audiences.

Another horrible scene was the homage to Marlene Dietrich in her dance scene from "Blonde Venus". The Dietrich trip the light fantastic toe was dumb....the version with Uma Thurman managed to make information technology fifty-fifty stupider. Seeing her in magenta gorilla costume was indeed stupid!

To make everything worse, Miss Thurman overacted terribly throughout the film and I'd say she was the weakest and most annoying actor in the cast....and I assume she was only doing what the director and writer instructed her to do. The same can be said nearly all the horrid puns uttered past Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze....he was just doing what he was told to practise. And, ultimately the crap dialog betwixt the three crime fighters is pretty much the aforementioned...the delivered the crap that they were given.

In order to have made a adept moving-picture show, "Batman & Robin" should accept learned SOMETHING from "Batman" (1989). It should take been darker, had one GOOD villain instead of three lousy ones and not given style to cheap stunts and gimmickery. Instead of a nighttime, heart-searching story, this one looks virtually like it was filmed inside a carnival fun house...complete with glow in the nighttime neon paint and i dimensional characters.

Overall, a truly horrid pile of vomit. The movie manages to earn a 2...but only considering for $125,000,000 the film ultimately must look skilful...at least at times.

So was there anything I liked well-nigh the movie? Well, I did laugh at the scene where Mr. Freeze was watching the Snowfall Miser from "The Year Without a Santa Claus" Tv set special...and he tried to make his minions sing along with him. It was impaired...simply it did make me laugh and was one of the few moments that I didn't hate myself for watching this movie.

Hey, Lighten Up Batman Fans!

Most people, especially fans of the earlier Batman films, hated this moving-picture show. I did not. In fact, although information technology'due south non my favorite in the series (my vote goes to Batman Returns), I still plant this refreshing in its cartoon-ish innocence. After all, information technology is based on a cartoon, so what is so unforgivable most making it light-hearted simply once. Does everything have to be dark and brooding? I hope non. Well, unfortunately, people similar the darkness more than the low-cal. Simply look at the reviews here, for an case of that.

I merely went along for the ride on this, enjoying the outlandish characters and corny-but-humorous lines delivered past Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze and Uma Thurman equally Poison Ivy. Both were a lot of fun to picket. Batman, meanwhile, has been played by some many actors I don't care anymore who has the role.....its' zippo to get serious nearly, anyhow.

Whoever seems to play him does a decent chore. This Batman version seems a lot more softer graphic symbol, college-principled and compassionate....sort of the existent-life wacko (George Clooney) who views himself as such as a knight in shining armor for the typical Hollywood Left Wing oversupply. Just....we'll forgive him, for he not knows what he says.

I appreciated the added sense of humor in this film, the fact in that location nearly no profanity, dissimilar the other versions; the wild special effects, ogling Uma Thurman, who looked fantastic; great colour and environs sound; interesting sets and a nice message at the end.

The negatives were: a little too much action which can make you lot airheaded trying to follow; a somewhat-abrasive Robin (Chris O'Donnell); Alicia Silverstone'southward office as Batgirl calculation naught to the flick; and a little too many sexual innuendos to counteract the absenteeism of profanity, I suppose.

Overall, a fun flick not to be taken seriously: simply a drawing come to life, which is what some people think it should have been in the starting time place.

R.I.P Joel Schumacher

Batman & Robin is 1 of my all time favourite movies! George Clooney and Arnold Schwarzenegger deliver the performances of a lifetime! Okay, jokes aside, this movie is pretty laughable, Joel Schumacher directed a far more brighter and colourful Batman motion-picture show compared to the darker Tim Burton approach. When I was around 7, this used to exist my favourite Batman motion-picture show! Not fifty-fifty gonna prevarication, then I got around to becoming a motion-picture show-lover and realised how bad this movie really is! The simply reason it gets an 8 is because Schwarzenegger really makes the movie funny, George Clooney's suit is kind of nostalgic for me in all honesty and some of the camera angles are pretty dope, ngl. This is besides the moving-picture show that brought us the Nolan Batman trilogy which is 2000 times better than this piece of... *masterpiece* (of) cleverness and accented genius! A serious R.I.P to the man, the myth, the legend, Joel Schumacher, who should not exist remembered for this.. ahem, *masterpiece*, but for his other brilliant work like Batman Forever (yeah, to exist honest I kinda dear that movie), A Time To Kill, Falling Downward, 8mm, Phone Booth, Phantom of the Opera and many more. The guy didn't only direct this, don't accept the 8-rating seriously, it's just considering it's nostalgic and brought u.s.a. iii other movies that were a f*** ton improve than this ane!

The key I establish to really enjoy this movie for what information technology is

Back in the twenty-four hour period, I felt dissapointed when I saw it in theathers and I really disliked the motion picture for many reasons: it wasn't nighttime like the get-go two (aforementioned thing for "Foverer"), the dialogues ("chicks dig the machine") the over-the-superlative silly acting, the props (batmobile, suits, weapons, etc), the goofy villains... Nevertheless I loved the colour palette and cinematography - information technology's pure Schumacher of course. Over the yearss I accept watched it again several times and when the BluRay came out I watched it more in depth, kind of I was "trying" to similar it - and finally it happened. Why? How? Well, after more than 20 years since it was released ways that I'm older also and my thoughts about the movie changed every bit well. Now when I watch it I feel like I'thou watching a "modern" take on the threescore's TV series and it really makes sense to me for the very aforementioned elements I mentioned before: goofy villains, lots of colours, over-the-superlative cheesy acting, family-friendly overall tone. Gradually I started enjoying the movie in this context and I tin can say that I like it for what it is. Unfortunately, this was the latest entry in the "comic-style" franchise.

Good

It is hard to describe life. Stories about mermaids fighting wars in different galaxies, that is easy to describe; just writing almost life, sometimes all y'all tin can say is, "It's about life." Batman and Robin is a story well-nigh a place, a identify most people might not be able to conceive: where things are dying, where people survive off liquor and cigarettes, where those who are supposed to love us bulldoze knives into our backs. Clooney is adept when he is bad and good when he is good, so no point in home on him. It'due south worth watching this film just to see him. This film has a feel; you can sense it and I was getting a trivial shaky halfway through.

Better than 3.8

I tried watching it again as an developed and it was not bad as the comments. Or because I expected worse. Just the MOST disturbing matter was Uma Thurman'south emphasis. It was unbearable...

Non That Bad

Not that neat, either. Most of the bad things y'all've heard about this picture are true, but that doesn't stop the picture show from being entertaining.

Seeing Batman and Arnold Schwarzenegger duke it out is reason enough to see "Batman & Robin." But while Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze carries impressive weapons and strikes a menacing effigy, his lines are cheesy instead of threatening. In fact, cheesier lines haven't been heard since Adam West played Batman.

George Clooney makes a likable super hero. Unfortunately, he'south not really Batman. Batman is tormented by inner demons. George Clooney never stops smiling. Even though Adam W's lines equally Batman were unbelievable, he still said them with a straight face, every bit if they were serious. George Clooney says fifty-fifty serious lines with a cheesy smiling. He'due south conceivable every bit rich playboy Bruce Wayne, only, even though his attempt to get Batman to lighten upwards was a noble thought, the character should be played with some darkness.

Still, there'south a great warmness between Clooney and Michael Gough, who plays Alfred the butler, and betwixt Clooney and Chris O'Donnel, who plays Robin the Boy Wonder. Bruce Wayne's personal life is in turmoil. Alfred, his friend and mentor, is dying, and Bruce must cope with the thought that he might lose him. Robin is tired of standing in Batman's shadow and begins to jeopardize the Dynamic Duo's partnership. Both subplots are well acted and touching.

The plot is completely preposterous, but that'southward to exist expected from a movie based on comic books. It'south nevertheless entertaining. The gadgets are impressive, the activeness scenes are well done, and the Batmobile, as ever, is cool. The atomic number 82 actresses, Elle MacPherson, Alicia Silverstone, and Uma Thurman, are talented and very easy on the eyes. Uma Thurman, equally the evil Poison Ivy, possesses a magic powder that will make men exercise anything for her. This seems redundant to me, since her sexy costumes alone are plenty to make men exercise anything for her.

If I had to choose a worst out of the Batman movies, I'd selection this one. However, it's light entertainment, and worth a wait.

Non completely bad, simply non very expert

I hope Tim Burton takes over the Batman movie series. If WB didn't learn their lesson afterward this one, they never volition. Batman Forever I liked, but it foreshadowing this movie, which turned the once cool, dark, Batman-worthy Burton version into a glow-in-the-dark, kiddy-bear witness, campy version. I however say this movie is OK, but if something isn't done about Joel, I won't be saying this for much longer.

Hither we get...

Batman: I am and so surprised that anybody says that George Clooney is the best role of this movie. He is the worst Batman in my opinion.(I think Kilmer was the best) Clooney isn't that bad, simply I didn't think he fit. And the Batman Credit Card? I wanted to puke in my popcorn when I saw that!

Robin: Robin reminds me a lot of Luke Skywalker, minus the coolness. Chris O'Donnell plays the part well. Unfortunately, the part is a whiny, annoying, untrustworthy, gullible, stupid sidekick. Don't bother defending Robin, he isn't worth it. He was OK in Batman Forever, but his graphic symbol isn't improving.

Batgirl: Y'all know, we really didn't demand some other sidekick correct away, did we? Why Batgirl now? Save her for number half-dozen, for crying out loud! Alicia Silverstone is bully (though non in this movie) but that doesn't hide the fact that the character shouldn't be there. And the constant boxing of the sexes betwixt her and Robin are annoying.

Mr. Freeze: Ugh. The only matter that saved this character was the fact that information technology was Arnold, and that didn't save information technology. I won't forgive Joel for putting a nifty guy like Arnold into a crappy role similar this. Aye, his thing was ice, but that doesn't mean EVERY LINE OVER 5 Sentence (no exaggeration) had to be an ice pun!

Poison Ivy: The matter that really saved this moving-picture show. Uma Thurman did a corking acting task for this part, despite some other opinions. She was very sexy and interesting, unlike Mr. Freeze. In some parts, you were waiting to become back to her scenes. This was the but interesting villain in the movie.

Bane: I am stunned at Joel's ability to take a cool villain from the comics like Blight and plow him into a drooling, stupid, grunt-similar idiot. I am too disgusted to talk almost it.

Alfred: Alfred is just every bit good as e'er in this pic, although it is getting annoying how he wants everyone he knows to be one of Batmans sidekicks.

Commishoner Gordan: You lot know, in Batman you had respect for this guy. At present his only scenes are when he drools over Poison Ivy. Sad.

Overall, Uma Thurman's sexy role in this movie solitary is enough for you lot to sentry this movie. To die by getting kissed by Uma, what a keen mode to dice! :)

Holy Cr**py Flick Batman!!!!!

This is the about disappointing movie in the history of film for me.

A ii out of 10 is generous. I should give information technology a zilch strictly based on the Bat Credit Carte scene.

Every single private whether information technology be producers, director, author or actors (minus Chris O'Donnell) should be "Bat-Whipped" for this piece of junk. This is your typical "admittedly cannot fail" franchise in film getting raped past studio execs making critical content decisions near a film when they have no talent to do so. Batman is popular but considering of the comic book non considering of that retarded TV show starring Adam West, just this flick is more fashioned subsequently that campy trash. This was nothing simply a slap in the face to every true fan of the Batman. The management of Joel Schumacher was deplorable. The set designs looked cheap (the water ice looked and acted similar dried craft mucilage) and were visually painful, specially the overuse of the red neon hue in many scenes. The digital effects were OK but often over done. The production cost was extensive, and I wonder what percentage of the upkeep went to the salaries of Arnold, George, Uma and Alicia. I'm certain it was high. I know Arnold got $20 million, so the percentage had to exist fairly loftier. Well, everyone 1 of them needed to requite back large portions of their salaries because their performances were atrocious. Alicia Silverstone needs to requite her entire salary back. Hers was probably one the worst performances ever in a major motility picture. Arnold tin can't act anyway and then I wasn't really expecting much, but I was disappointed when I heard he was cast as Freeze because he in no fashion fits that graphic symbol. Freeze was a scientist and when I await at Arnold my first thought is not "Scientist". Ben Kingsly or Patrick Stewart would have fit better. Uma, who is ordinarily a credible actress, was as well "drama queen" which fabricated information technology hard to immerse yourself in scenes she was in. Clooney was totally miscast as Bruce Wayne/Batman. I mean information technology's hard non to laugh when Batman is shorter than Robin. George like Uma was also overly dramatic, especially in scenes with Alfred, which made it hard to take him seriously. Chris O'Donnell was really the only role player that seemed existent. With all that, I would have to say the overwhelmingly worst office of this flick was the script. Akiva Goldsman should take been banned from Hollywood after this script. Information technology was a completely brainless jumbled mess. The story, which was distressing at best, gets completely lost in entirely too many characters. It was so frustrating seeing the origins of certain characters ripped too shreds every bit Goldsman attempted to jam them into the script. Batgirl, who should accept never been in this film in the beginning identify, was changed from Commissioner Gordon'due south daughter to Alfred'south niece, which made absolutely no sense. In an attempt, to explicate why Freeze was and then muscular it was explained he was an Olympic gymnast. How freakin' stupid is that? Gymnasts by necessity need to be small in stature to perform well in gymnastics and Arnold is enormous. Goldsman's apply of dialogue was highly irritating consisting of nada but one juvenile one-liner afterwards another after another subsequently another. Ane other thing that really irritated me was the complete mishandling and waste product of the character Bane. Bane is a much more complex and vicious villain in the comics, and this movie version with Bane reduces him to a mindless henchman. Blight deserves much more than character evolution than he received in B&R. The same affair happened in Forever, when ane of the most highly circuitous and interesting villains in the comics, Two-Face, got reduced to second billing. Annotation to Warner Bros. stop screwing with Batman he can sell himself, and stop trying to cram so many characters into the films, and understand nobody wants to see a Campy Caped Crusader.

Quondam school silly

Warning: Spoilers

Super fun and pre serious Batman . While step away from the darker tendencies of the penguin. I appreciated information technology at the time and watched it recently - it'southward held upward . Of course Wayne here is a bit of an odd choice but made sense dorsum in the twenty-four hour period . It'southward decorated, yet a feast for the optics . Robins costume is actually pretty absurd and I similar him and his origins in this . The laundry scene is memorable. The addition of batgirl felt fashion off simply again reflects the casting at the fourth dimension and at that betoken why non lol . Casting Arnold every bit freeze was not every bit far off every bit information technology seems . The car drove , manor , Alfred was pick . All together almost comical yet still nighttime and er become a sense of how the bat films found their footing .
